Bubbles, located the the Porn Ping Hotel, 46 Charoen Prathet Road is usually packed on weekend nights. Usually a good mix of locals and visitors. Cover charge 100 baht including one drink; open until 02:00.
Mandalay, the only venue that discriminates against tourists and Westerners. Don't bother.
Discovery, across the street from Kad Suan Kaew Central shopping centre is tucked away on the second floor of a semi-abandoned shopping mall. It is the “in place” (Nov 2006) and features live bands, DJs and huge screens showing music videos. Capacity on the weekends can reach in the hundreds and you'll be hard pressed to find any tourists in here. A fun once in a life time adventure but don't forget your ear-plugs!
Spicy is an after hours “restaurant” with dancing and plenty of locals drinking until sunrise.
